Break My Stride

( Album: "Level II / Break My Stride", Austria - Sep 30, 1996 / Jul 8, 1996 )

Last night I had the strangest dream
I sailed away to China in a little rowboat to find ya
And you said you had to get your laundry cleaned
Didn't want no one to hold you, What does that mean?

And you said...

ChorusAin't nothin' gonna break my stride
Nobody's gonna slow me down
Oh no, I've got to keep on movin'

Ain't nothin' gonna break my stride
I'm running and I won't touch ground
Oh no, I've got to keep on movin'

You're on the road and now you're plain as gone (you pray you'll last)
The road behind (beyond) was rocky, but now you're feeling cocky
You look at me and you see your past
Is that the reason why you're running so fast?

And you said...

Chorus

Never let another guy like you, work me over
Never let another guy like you, drag me under
If I meet another guy like you, I will tell him
Never want another guy like you, how to say:

(Never let another girl like you whip me over
Never let another girl like you drag me under
If I meet another girl like you I will tell her
Never want another girl like you have to say - oh!)

Bio

It all began in 1992 with their singles "Iko, Iko", "Loveline", "Changes" and the album "Internity".
The singles and the album made it to the top 10 in Austria.
In 1996 and 1997 the success continued with the singles "Break My Stride", "Do What You Please", "I Still Go On",
"Dance All Night" and the album "Level II". These singles also became very popular in other countries.
They climbed high in charts in Scandinavia, Canada, Italy and many other countries.

In 1998 the singer Jade Davis decided to make a solocareer and the producers went out to look for a new singer.
They found Phoebe Caren, a Dutch born singer. The rapper B-Nice is still with the group.

Phoebe Caren (singer)
She has completed a theater education which contained singing, dancing, history, akrobatics, cabaret and musical.
Parallel to it she visited the conservatorium for Jazzsinging and popular music, which she completed in 1997 with a
diploma. Besides her studies she was also a singer and dancer in several bands.

B-Nice (Rapper)
He was born in Africa (Nigera) and moved with his familiy to South London, where he began to work with different bands
for ten years. After finishing he's " business administration " - studies in at the "London School of Economics"
he went to Austria 1991. In Austria he rapped for groups like the Bingoboys, Beat 4 Feat and naturally Unique II.
But it was with Unique II where the biggest success was.

Erwin Geppner, Werner Freistätter (Producers)
The two producers found their way into music from their technical interest, whereby Erwin Geppner stated from bands like
Kraftwerk and The Art of Noise, that with a keyboard and a computer a substantially further sound spectrum could be opened.

The same was for the guitarist Werner Freistätter, after discovering the electronic sequencers.

When they had finished their HTL-education in electrotechnology and electronics the founded Unique II.
The suitable interpreters were soon found - now there was nothing in the way for the band Unique II...

Unique II released a single called "Forever" featuring the singer Sheila Fernandez in January 2000.
It was followed by a new album which was released in February 2000.

Later in the summer/fall of 2000 the single "The Way I Need To Go", including remixes of Eiffel 65.

In the fall of 2000 the single "Take Me Higher" was released.

In June 2001 the single "Colours" was released.

10 years of Unique II the producers (Erwin Geppner and Werner Freistätter) from Austria released their first
"Best of"-CD, with new remixes of their biggest hits "Loveline" and "Break My Stride". Also they will go on tour with the actually Unique II-members -> female-voice Sheila Fernandez (born in Manila) and Christian Troy (rap, dancer).

Christian Troy (born in Chesterfield, England) is since January 2000 with Unique II. He had worked before as
an model and dancer. In 1999 he was "Black Model Of The Year" in Austria, where he lives since 1997.

All begun with Sandy Cooper and Def-Tone ("Iko Iko"). Then followed B-Nice and Jade Davies
("Loveline" / "Break My Stride").

Now Sheila Fernandez and Christian Troy are Unique II.

The former members Jade Davies and B-Nice had gone in 1997 to do their own solo-career.

The best-of album was released on May 06th, 2002 and a 2002 re-work of the classic "Break My Stride" was also released.
